When Should You Restart Your Router?
How router restarts help and when they do not.
Restarting a router can clear temporary problems, memory issues and stuck connections. It is a simple first step when the internet becomes unstable.
However, if slow speed returns every day, the issue may be Wi-Fi interference, old hardware, bad placement or ISP congestion.
After a restart, run a speed test and compare the result with previous values to see if it actually helped.
Quick checklist
- Run a fresh test after changing one setting.
- Compare Wi-Fi and Ethernet when possible.
- Check download, upload, ping and jitter together.
